About Us

The Unmanned Company was founded to solve a growing problem: organisations are being asked to defend against drone threats without the tools to properly understand, test, or plan for them.

We exist to change that.

We are a UK-based defence technology company focused on helping security and defence organisations stay ahead of evolving drone threats. Our work combines scientific modelling, real-world testing, and operational insight to deliver practical tools for planning, evaluation, and decision-making.

At the core of this is CUAS Planner, our simulation platform designed to test sites, tactics, and counter-UAS systems against realistic threat scenarios before deployment. It enables teams to identify weaknesses, compare options, and make informed decisions with confidence, without relying solely on costly and constrained field trials.

Our Story

The Unmanned Company originated from work supporting UK security stakeholders, including counter-terrorism and organised crime units, where the growing complexity of drone threats exposed a clear gap in how counter-UAS decisions were being made.

In a market increasingly saturated with new and emerging technologies, organisations were being asked to make critical capability decisions without a reliable way to test, compare, and understand their options.

The company was founded to address that gap, bringing together scientific rigour and operational relevance to create a structured, evidence-led approach to counter-UAS planning.

Founded in 2018, The Unmanned Company continues to operate at the forefront of simulation-led capability development.

We actively collaborate and partner with government, research organisations, and industry leaders, including organisations such as the Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC), STFC Hartree Centre, EPSRC-supported programmes, the North West Regional Defence and Security Cluster (NWRDSC), and the Royal Academy of

Engineering, to advance how drone threats are understood, tested, and managed.

What Sets Us Apart

We are not a consultancy producing static reports, and we are not purely a software company building abstract tools.

We operate at the intersection of:

  • Science and engineering. Rigorous modelling grounded in real-world data

  • Operational reality. Understanding how systems are deployed and used in practice

  • Decision support. Delivering outputs that directly inform planning, procurement, and deployment

Our focus is simple: help organisations move beyond assumptions and towards evidence-based counter-drone strategy.

Who We Work With

We work with organisations responsible for protecting people, infrastructure, and national interests, including:

  • Defence and government stakeholders

  • Critical infrastructure and transport operators

  • Security planners and site protection teams

  • Counter-UAS manufacturers and evaluators

We are particularly focused on working with forward-leaning organisations who recognise that drone threats will continue to evolve, and that staying ahead requires better tools, not just more equipment.

Built for What’s Next

Drone capability is advancing rapidly. Defensive approaches must evolve faster.

The Unmanned Company is built to help organisations stay ahead, enabling better testing, clearer understanding, and more confident decision-making in an increasingly complex and fast-moving threat landscape.

Work With Us

We are actively working with early partners and leading organisations to shape the future of CUAS Planner.

If you want to explore how simulation can support your planning, evaluation, or capability development, we would welcome the conversation.
